The vision of the department is to achieve excellence in education, research, technology development and outreach in the domain of energy sustainability and conduct cutting-edge research in futuristic thematic areas related to energy sustainability with clear focus on new age technologies

To educate students to be leaders in sustainable development
To develop new technologies and knowledge to improve engineering practices related to sustainability
To create a culture that prioritizes the environmental, climatic and social concerns
To create a new generation of leaders with the knowledge and passion to pursue sustainability opportunities

GOALS OF THE OFFICE OF THE SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainable Campus Developments and Resource Management

Integration of Renewable Energy Sources in the campus for lighting purposes, Promote the use of electric or hybrid vehicles and Promote development of green meeting standards of IGBC.
Promote waste management through recycling and composting and Implement strategies for efficient water use
Conduct assessment of emissions in campus and evaluation of carbon footprint

Strategic Planning and Policy Development for Campus Operations relating to Sustainable Development and Climate Action

Develop and implement policies that would promote sustainability across all university
Conducting energy audit and environmental audit regularly to monitor energy usage and environmental impact and Implement initiatives to reduce carbon footprint

Curriculum Integration and Research Outcomes related to Sustainable Development

Integrate subjects related to sustainable development and climate action into the curriculum across all the departments
Transforming parts of the campus into living labs for students to test pilot sustainability related projects
Facilitate research work related to sustainable development and environmental impact

Community Partnerships, Collaborations and Outreach Programs to promote Sustainability awareness

Partnerships with other universities, government agencies and industries to share best practices and collaborate on sustainable initiatives.
Seek funding opportunities and consultancy projects to support sustainability research and projects
