About Us

The law is the cement of society and essential medium of change. Education, especially the legal education makes a citizen responsible, vibrant and constructive. The law transforms the society, and legal education encourages the citizen to think about transformation or reform.
Legal Education and its teaching in India now are on the crossroads. Conventional law teaching with its traditional subjects is no more adequate even to court practice. It is now challenged and beset with emerging technical scientific and business issues. On the other hand, to mitigate the demands of professionals in corporate legal service sector, law needs to be technically focused and articulated. Demand of technical laws are increasing with the growth of regulatory authorities which requires techno-legal solution by the law officials in any organization, particularly, to reduce the cost of litigation either in court or tribunal. So what is the need of the hour being to customize law with science, management and engineering. Corporate Sector and Universities are coming forward to shape the legal education with their dynamic knowledge of engineering, management and technology. With these perspective, Department of Law of UEM offers 5 years integrated undergraduate courses in law (BBA.LLB (Hons.) approved by Bar Council of India) that has been carefully crafted and designed to prepare its graduates for rewarding careers in legal service organizations, apart from court practices.

The vision adopted by the Law school is crucial as it envisages contributing to nation building by nurturing tomorrow’s industry-ready legal professionals. Department of Law (IEM INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JURIDICAL STUDIES) at University of Engineering and Management encourages the students for blended learning system, i.e.; Legal Education with other allied areas like management, engineering, technology etc. which is vital to inculcate legal skills from every sphere in the students to make their studies meaningful as a mode of instructions. It is a step to make them efficient practitioners of law and also to equip them to contribute significantly to the community and society needs. Since we lead the way in legal professional education, the onus is on us to show the way in integrating the rule of law within the society and remove any discrimination with respect to person, property or community in the society. Department of Law (IEM INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JURIDICAL STUDIES) at University of Engineering and Management provides an exceptional education for next generation lawyers, Jurists and corporate professionals. Our Mission is to provide world class legal education to our students and to develop as well as manage resources sustainably to build a foundation of success and to assist students to understand and enjoy seamless nature of knowledge and encourage them to apply the acquired knowledge to practical use, so that they become worthy, socially responsible good human beings sought after for their leadership qualities. Besides that, the law department also give importance to foster creativity, innovation and excellence through example based teaching-learning process imparted in the simplest and easily comprehensive way and to continuously upgrade knowledge base of our manpower, improve infrastructure and use of latest technology/pedagogical tools and update curriculum through periodic feedback from stakeholders to enable students to meet professional requirements and their expectations. The law department well equipped with great team of faculty members who renders unfathomable commitment to legal research and intellectual inquiry.
The teaching methods adopted for the Degree programme are such as to promote multi-disciplinary enquiry and practical appreciation of problems. The method of teaching involves lectures, discussions, case studies, Moot Courts and project works. An innovative feature of teaching method followed by the Law department is dialectic method of mooting and debating. This is particularly useful for the multidisciplinary analysis of socio-legal problems and development of legal acumen and skill.
