About Us
The Department of Electrical Engineering under University of Engineering & Management, Kolkata is one of the primary departments of the university which started its journey in the year 2015 and the first batch of students graduated in 2019. The department offers an 8-semester undergraduate B. Tech course and also offers research programs leading to a Ph.D. degree. The department offers Electrical Engineering (EE) undergraduate program that imparts proper understanding of the subjects under Electrical Engineering and its different aspects built on a foundation of Science, Mathematics, Computation, Engineering and Technology. The course under Electrical Engineering Department follows the AICTE course curriculum along with special classes related to competitive examinations and placements. Admissions for UG program in this department require a valid rank of JEE Mains/WBJEE/IEMJEE along with 60% marks in Class 10 and 12. The present intake of this department is 30. The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty and staff members. The faculty members of the department are vibrant combinations of experience and innovation. Other than excellence in teaching, they have also proved their worth by publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals and prestigious international conferences, authoring text and reference books. Presently, the department boasts of publication of 51 international reputed journals and 64 international conferences along with one (01) textbook and two (02) book chapters. The faculties of the department have also applied for 02 international patents and have submitted 03 Government Research Project Proposals. The Department has well modernized class rooms and possesses exclusive laboratories as per university course curriculum. Apart from the academics, students are also encouraged for different extra-curricular activities like various competitions, seminars, workshops, industrial tours etc. The placement statistics of the department is quite good with most of the students being placed in IT companies, power sector companies and eminent private sector companies with some students even getting two or more job offers. The students also get chances for higher education by qualifying exams like GATE, CAT, GRE, etc. The department also possess a strong alumnus of students who are well established software engineers, power engineers and pursuing research in some renowned universities across the globe. This department provides a dynamic and scholarly environment where the students can learn independently and in collaboration with others to develop a disciplined yet innovative approach to their careers as professional engineers, IT professionals, researchers or academician.
