Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti

Chancellor
Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti did his B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering from REC, Durgapur (NIT, Durgapur). He then went to IIT, Kharagpur to complete his M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. He has done his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Burdwan University. He has also completed MBA from Missori University, USA.
He has done research in the field of Machine Tools, Industrial Electronics, Aviation, Alternate Fuel and Robotics.
Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti after doing Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur, joined Steel Authority of India (SAIL) as Chief and was in-charge of Western Region in India for 13 years. (1971 to 1984). Then he worked as Vice President in British America Investors Corporation at World Trade Centre (BAICORP), New York, USA. (1984 to 1994). After that
he worked as Director of Institute of Engineering & Management, Salt Lake, Kolkata (www.iemcal.com). (1994 to 2011). He was also associated West Bengal Higher Education Council (1997 to 2006) and worked as consultant to Chairman of Coal India Limited (2 years) for marketing of coal (1997-1999) and Vizag Port Trust as consultant (2 years) for material chandelling in Port (2000-2002). At present he is working as Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering & Management, Jaipur. (www.uem.edu.in). (since 2011 & continuing).
He is the Recipient of IETE Gold Medal for highest contribution in Indian Industrial Electronics that happened during last 10 years (1999). He is also the Recipient of Edupreneur award from MHRD in 2013 for highest contribution in the field of education.
Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti, the founder of Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata has been immensely influential in inculcating the sense of human values and discipline to make the students of the institute respectful to other human, realize and demonstrate their best potential and be winner in life. Prof. Dr. Biswajoy Chatterjee

Prof. Biswajoy Chatterjee did his M.Tech from Jadavpur University and PhD from NIT Agartala. He was also associated with NUS Singapore in the field of Robotics. He was also a professor of IEM. He used to teach Microprocessor and advanced Computer Architecture. He has big achievements in the field of Robotics as well.

Prof. Dr. Kamakhya Prasad Ghatak

Dean
Professor Kamakhya Prasad Ghatak obtained Ph.D. (Tech) Degree from the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of the University of Calcutta in 1988 on the basis of 27 published Research Papers in International Peer- Reviewed (IP) SCI Journals which is still a record in the said institute. He is the first recipient of the degree of Doctor of Engineering of Jadavpur University on the basis of CIRCA 150 Research Papers in IP SCI Journals concerned with Transport Effects in compound Nano-Structured Materials in 1991 since the University inception in 1955 and in the same year he received The INSA Visiting Fellowship To IIT-Kharagpur. He is the Principal Co-Author of more than 300 research papers in eminent IP S.C.I. Journals, more than 60 research papers in the Proceedings of the Conferences of SPIE and MRS of USA (https://scholar.google.co.in/citations?user =q8z3CMAAAAJ&hl =en) and many of his papers are being cited many times. At present, the h-index, i10-index, total citations and the maximum citation of a research paper within four years of its publication of Professor Ghatak are 27,134,3681 and 300 respectively. He is the invited Speaker of SPIE, MRS, etc., the referee and Editor of different reputed Journals, the supervisor of more than two dozens of PhD candidates in various aspects of semiconductor nano-science and many of them are working as faculty members in different Universities and Academic Institutions respectively. He is the PRINCIPAL CO-AUTHOR of NINE RESEARCH MONOGRAPHS (EACH FOR THE FIRST TIME ) from SPRINGER-VERLAG, GERMANY among them one from Springer series in Solid State Sciences (vol. 170), three are from Springer Series in Materials Science (vols 116, 137 and 167), one from Springer Series in Nano Structure Science and Technology and four from Springer Tracts in Modern Physics (vols. 255, 260, 262 and 265) respectively. He is the SOLO AUTHOR of one research monograph (vol. 7) in the Series on the Foundations of Natural Science and Technology of World Scientific Publishing Co. Singapore. He is the PRINCIPAL EDITOR of the two edited monographs in Series in Nanotechnology Science of NOVA , USA . He joined as Lecturer in the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of the University of Calcutta in 1983, Reader in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering of Jadavpur University in 1987, Professor in the Department of Electronic Science of the University of Calcutta in 1994, Head of The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of National Institute of Technology, Agartala, Tripura from March 2012 and later on acted as Dean (Faculty Welfare) of the said Institute. From February 2015 he has joined as Dean Engineering in University of Engineering and Management,Rajarhat, Kolkata. His forty years long teaching experience include Non-Linear Circuits, Semiconductor Science, Indeterminate Structures, Non-Linear Mechanics, Collision Theory, Oscillatory Integrals and present research interests are Semiconductor Nanoscience and Analytic Number Theory respectively. His brief CV has been enlisted in many biographical references of USA and UK. Professor Ghatak is a firm believer of the concept of theoretical minimum of Landau and being the ardent follower of GITA (well-known as the theory of KRIYA YOGA), his vision, mission and passion is to stay deeply in solitude to become a permanent member of the endless world of self-realization.

Prof. Dr. Rajiv Ganguly

Prof. Dr. Rajiv Ganguly is currently a Professor and Dean of University of Engineering & Management, Salt Lake, Kolkata. He has done his Ph. D.(Engg.) on “ Some studies on the Development of II-VI Semiconducting Films for Sensor Technology” in 2013 from School of Energy Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He completed his graduation in 1994 and post-graduation in Physics from University of Calcutta in 1996. He has received national scholarship twice in his career. He is also reviewer of prestigious international journals like – IEEE Electron Device Letters, International Journal of Low Carbon Technologies etc. He is also a member of professional societies like – IEEE and International Association of Engineers. He has served the academics for about 19 years and has an industry experience of about a year in the capacity of Vice President heading the Western India operations of the company.

He has visited numerous foreign universities like National University of Singapore, De Montfort University and Imperial College, UK and developed successful collaborative links with them. He is also a selected resource person of TEQIP II program by State Project Facilitation Unit, Govt. of West Bengal which is a World Bank funded programme for conducting data audits of state level universities like Jadavpur University and other technical institutes of the state.

He has more than fifteen publications in national and international journals and conferences. He has also served as session chair in the prestigious World Congress on Engineering held at Imperial College, London, UK in 2008.His current research interests include – thin film wide band gap semiconductor fabrication and characterization, solid state lighting, semiconductor device modeling and some areas of biomedical electronics.

Prof. Dr. Niranjan Kumar Mandal

Prof. Dr. Niranjan Kumar Mandal completed his B.Tech(Hons.) from IIT, Kharagpur, he completed M.Tech from IIT, Delhi, he completed Ph.D from BITS, Pilani. He joined BITS, Pilani as a professor and worked there for 10 years. He also worked in AICTE, New Delhi as Assistant Director for 2 Years. He worked in JIET, Jind(Kurukshetra University) as a professor for 2 years, he worked in Asansol Engg. College and SMIT, Hooghly as a Principal and Vidyasagar University as a Professor & Controller of Exams for 10 years.
He published 23 Journals and 36 Conference Proceedings.

Prof. Dr. BASUDEB BARMAN

Basudeb Barman (born 5 October 1935) was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represented the Mathurapur constituency of West Bengal and is a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) party.Mr. Barman completed M.Sc. (Tech) in Applied Chemistry at the University of Calcutta. Mr. Barman was a Professor at the University of Calcutta teaching Energy technology at the Department of Chemical Engineering. He has also been the Vice-Chancellor of Kalyani University.He was nominated by the Left Front to contest the 2009 Lok Sabha election from Ranaghat (Lok Sabha constituency).

Mr. AMIT KIRAN DEB, IAS (Rtd.)

Mr. Amit Kiran Deb is Non-Executive Independent Director of Emami Ltd. An M.A. in Political Science, Shri Deb joined the IAS in 1971. Former Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal and currently Chairman, Bengal Ambuja Housing Development Limited. Shri Deb earlier served as Joint Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat & Joint Secretary, Department of Electronics, Government of India, Municipal Commissioner, Calcutta Municipal Corporation, Principal Secretary, Tourism and Information & Cultural Affairs Department, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Home Secretary, West Bengal. He is an Independent Director in the Boards of Skipper Limited and Dishergarh Power Supply Company Limited.

Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti

Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti did his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from the Institute of Engineering & Management, then went on to do his Masters in Computer Science from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. While doing his masters, he created groundwork for Industry-University alliance with Nokia and UBC.
Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti worked as a Project Manager in TELUS in Vancouver in Beautiful British Columbia for many years where he was instrumental in completing many multi million dollar IT and Telecom projects – including the $300 million dollar Project Imagine, $2 million Wireless Number Portability. Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti brings with him a solid foundation in academics and industry.
In India, Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti co-founded the University of Engineering & Management, Jaipur and currently heads the Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata. He is a passionate entrepreneur and a Computer Engineer at heart and keeps on doing innovate projects and starting new ventures.
