NELTA International Conference 2024
#NELTAInternationalConference2024 Nepal English Language Teachers’ Association (NELTA) has conducted its 28th NELTA International Conference on 17-19 February 2024 on a face to face mode. The theme of the conference was Rethinking ELT in Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Innovation, with other sub-themes. Nepal English Language Teachers’ Association (NELTA) was founded in 1992 as a voluntary, non-political, nonprofit-making organization with an aim to develop skilled human resources and to support the teachers of English, ELT professionals, researchers, students for their professional development and to improve quality education through English Language Teaching in Nepal. At present NELTA has 59 branches along with 7 Provincial Committees and it covers 60 districts out of 77. It has 5000+ life members along with institutional members. And NELTA works in collaboration with the British Council, RELO, the US Embassy, TESOL, IATEFL, BELTA (Bangladesh), SPELT (Pakistan), ELTAI (India), JALT (Japan), MELTA (Malaysia), AINET (India), Africa ELTA, China BELT and Road, NATE (Russia), RELC (Singapore), Spain TESOL, Korea TESOL, Mongolia TESOL, STAR Scholars’ Network and various universities of home and abroad. This year, NELTA collaborated with UEM Jaipur where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Biswajoy Chatterjee, Registrar Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Head of English Department Prof. Dr. Mukesh Yadav attended the NELTA Conference at Kathmandu from 17th - 19th Feb 2024. Prof. Dr. Biswajoy Chatterjee was a Planery Speaker on the topic Use of Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies in Teaching and Learning English the Modern Way and was a distinguished panelist in the very engaging panel discussion on AI Horizons: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Frontier. Prof. (Dr) Mukesh Yadav was the Speaker of the Concurrent Session where he presented his research paper titled ‘ Instructor’s Autonomy in Language Teaching: A prerequisite for Development in Digital Era’. Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma was invited to NELTA conference 2024 as a distinguished guest for the conference. He collaborated with various universities and Institutions from many countries during the conference for tie-ups and student exchange programs. More than 800 participants from different parts of the globe attended and participated in 5 keynote address, 9 Planery sessions, 60x3 concurrent sessions, 3 featured speeches and 2 panel discussions. Overall, the recent events, including participation in the AIU Conference, Alumni Meet, and representation in NELTA, have provided UEM Jaipur with a remarkable opportunity to establish its presence in Nepal. "Bharat-Nepal Higher Education Summit"
"Bharat-Nepal Higher Education Summit", Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal hosted the International Vice-Chancellors Meet and the Bharat-Nepal Higher Education Summit from February 15 to 17 at its main campus in Dhulikhel, Kavre, Kathmandu, Nepal. The event, organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AlU)-North Zone, of which KU was an Associate Member, aimed to bring together Vice-Chancellors and leaders from over 200 international universities. Chancellors, Vice-Chancellor, Provosts, Registrars and Senior Professors from more than 200 AIU member Universities (Government and Private from India and Nepal) attended the summit, which was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Nepal and Chancellor of Kathmandu University Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. According to a press statement issued by Nirmal Mani Adhikari, head of the Department of Languages and Mass Communication in KU, a total of more than 250 participants from abroad confirmed their participation in the events. While the majority of participants were from Indian universities, representatives from the ASEAN University Network (AUN) and universities from Europe and Africa also joined the meet and the summit. This particular VC Meet, themed "Globalization and Internationalization of Higher Education", aimed to delve into the impact of globalization on higher education institutions, fostering international collaboration and the exchange of ideas. The event also provided a platform for networking, forming partnerships, and sharing best practices. The meet also promoted cross-cultural cooperation among academic communities from different regions, especially within the South Asian region. Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma - Registrar and Provost - and Prof. Dr. Mukesh Yadav - Professor and Head English Department - of UEM Jaipur attended the summit and represented the University and participated in various knowledge sharing sessions with eminent academic leaders of the region. This week, UEM Jaipur proudly recognizes the outstanding achievements of its students: Robowar Champions: Yogesh Taparia, Sumit Lamba, and Soham Wadekar secured the 1st prize in Robowar (a battle of self-designed robots) at IIT Ropar. Coding Excellence: Vishnu Singh and Balram Kulhari won the 3rd prize at the Code for Bharat Hackathon, hosted at Microsoft Office, Gurgaon. Multiple Victories Across India: Several UEM Jaipur students, including Tejas Kharkar, Ashish Kumar Jha, Manmohan Singh, Himanshu Jangid, Mayank Sharma, Rajput Yashu, Divyansh Sachdev, and Mohit Raj, achieved significant wins in competitions held at NIT Srinagar, SLIET Punjab, RGIPT UP, and JECRC Jaipur. Campus Placement Success: The university proudly celebrates the placement of its final-year students at Metacube Software as IT Developers, with an impressive starting salary of ₹6.5 LPA. The recruited students include Soumen Pal, Anushree Agarwala, Avinash Kumar Mehta, Aman Sharma, Sourabh Chhipa, Debabrata Maity, Anurag Kumar, Swayam Khatter, Shanu Aaryan, and Gopendu Manna.
