National Sports Day is an important occasion to recognise the role of sports and physical activity in the overall development of individuals and society. The celebration encouraged students to understand that sports not only contribute towards physical health but also help in developing important qualities such as discipline, leadership, teamwork, dedication and the spirit of fair play. The programme began with a respectful remembrance of Major Dhyan Chand and his immense contribution to Indian hockey and the sporting history of the nation.
