On the second day of the Professional Development Program at the University of Engineering and Management, Jaipur, attendees were honored to welcome Dr. Nanda Dulal Jana from NIT Durgapur, who presented an enlightening session on “Exploring Emerging Frontiers in Deep Learning: Neural Architecture Search for Automated Model Design.” Dr. Jana’s comprehensive presentation covered a spectrum of topics, including Hand-crafted CNN Models, the Importance of Model Architecture in Deep Learning, Challenges in Manual Model Design, Neural Architecture Search (NAS), Search Space and its Encoding, Evolutionary Algorithm-based Search, Performance Estimation Strategies, and the NAS Framework. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where Dr. Jana adeptly addressed participants’ queries. Dr. Anurag Hamilton, Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, delivered a Vote of Thanks to conclude the session.
The second session featured Prof. S. Magesh, a renowned technocrat and innovator, who provided an insightful lecture on “Understanding Case Study as a Research Method.” Prof. Magesh discussed the significance of case studies, their historical development, characteristics, and various types, supplemented with practical examples from the business field. Dr. Tarun Sharma, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, offered a Vote of Thanks to bring the session to a close.
Throughout the day, the sessions were adeptly moderated by Dr. Snehlata Dhaka, Associate Professor in the Department of English, with technical support from Prof. Dipta Mukerjee, Proctor at UEM Jaipur. The program saw active participation from 80 faculty members, enhancing the academic environment with their presence and engagement.
