Service computing define service computing (alternatively termed service-oriented computing) as the discipline that seeks to develop computational abstractions, architectures, techniques, and tools to support services broadly.
Service science, management, and engineering (SSME) is a term introduced by IBM to describe service science, an interdisciplinary approach to the study, design, and implementation of services systems – complex systems in which specific arrangements of people and technologies take actions that provide value for others.

About the speaker –
*Shrisha Rao received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Iowa, and before that his M.S. in logic and computation from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a professor at IIIT-Bangalore, a graduate school of information technology in Bangalore, India. His primary research interests are in applications of distributed computing, specifically algorithms and approaches for resource management in complex systems such as used in cloud computing. Dr. Rao is an ACM Distinguished Speaker and a Senior Member of the IEEE. He is also a life member of the American Mathematical Society and the Computer Society of India.*
