UEM UNITY CRICKET CUP 2026Tournament ReportThe UEM Unity Cricket Cup 2026 was successfully organized as a vibrant inter-team sporting event, bringing together 12 teams and providing participants with an excellent platform to demonstrate their cricketing skills, teamwork, leadership, discipline, and competitive spirit.The tournament was conducted in a structured four-group format, with three teams in each group. National Sports Day 2026 | A Tribute to Major Dhyan ChandThe National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Unit, UEM Jaipur, celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2026, paying a heartfelt tribute to the legendary hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand.More than 80 students enthusiastically participated in the celebration, which promoted the values of physical fitness, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.The programme commenced with students gathering at the Basketball Court, where a respectful tribute was paid to Major Dhyan Chand. This was followed by an inspiring speech by a student named Anshul Pathak highlighting his remarkable contribution to Indian sports and the importance of sports in the overall development of an individual.On this occasion, students also took a National Sports Day Pledge, reaffirming their commitment towards physical fitness, a healthy lifestyle, discipline and the true spirit of sportsmanship.As a tribute to the immense legacy and contribution of Major Dhyan Chand, three sporting matches were organised in his memory:Basketball MatchBadminton MatchFootball MatchAll three matches were played in the memory of Major Dhyan Chand, reflecting his inspiring legacy and his invaluable contribution to Indian sports. Commencement Introduction Celebrating the Spirit of Sports The University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur, observed National Sports Day on 29 August 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students. The programme was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS), UEM Jaipur, to pay tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand and to promote the importance of physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship among students. National Sports Day is an important occasion to recognise the role of sports and physical activity in the overall development of individuals and society. The celebration encouraged students to understand that sports not only contribute towards physical health but also help in developing important qualities such as discipline, leadership, teamwork, dedication and the spirit of fair play. The programme provided students with an opportunity to actively participate in different sporting activities while remembering and honouring the remarkable contribution of Major Dhyan Chand to Indian sports. 80+ Student Participants Objectives of the Programme Objectives of the Programme The National Sports Day programme was organized with the following objectives: 01 Tribute to Major Dhyan Chand To pay tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand and recognise his contribution to Indian sports. 02 Physical Fitness To promote physical fitness and encourage students to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle. 03 Discipline & Teamwork To develop the values of discipline, teamwork and perseverance among students. 04 Sportsmanship & Fair Play To promote the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play. 05 Active Participation To encourage students to participate actively in sports and physical activities. 06 Overall Development To highlight the importance of sports in the overall development of an individual. 07 Leadership & Cooperation To strengthen leadership, cooperation and team spirit among participating students. 08 Active Daily Life To encourage students to make physical activity an integral part of their daily lives. Commencement of the Programme Remembering a Sporting Legend The programme commenced at 4:30 P.M. at the Basketball Court of the University of Engineering & Management, Jaipur. Students gathered enthusiastically to participate in the celebration and pay tribute to Major Dhyan Chand. The programme began with a respectful remembrance of Major Dhyan Chand and his immense contribution to Indian hockey and the sporting history of the nation. Participants were reminded of his dedication, discipline and extraordinary achievements, which continue to inspire generations of young sportspersons. The gathering highlighted the importance of adopting the values represented by Major Dhyan Chand, including dedication, hard work, discipline and commitment towards excellence. Sporting Activities Three Sporting Matches As a tribute to the immense legacy and contribution of Major Dhyan Chand, three sporting matches were organized in his memory. The activities provided students with an opportunity to participate actively in sports and demonstrate their physical abilities, teamwork and sporting spirit. 01 Basketball Match A basketball match was organized with the enthusiastic participation of students. The match encouraged participants to demonstrate teamwork, coordination, quick decision-making and discipline. The activity created an energetic and positive atmosphere and provided students with an opportunity to experience the importance of collective effort and cooperation in achieving common goals. 02 Badminton Match A badminton match was also organized as part of the National Sports Day celebration. Students participated enthusiastically and demonstrated concentration, physical endurance and sporting discipline. The activity encouraged students to recognise the importance of regular physical activity and helped promote a healthy and active lifestyle. 03 Football Match A football match was organized with active participation from students. The match highlighted the importance of teamwork, coordination, leadership, perseverance and strategic thinking. Students demonstrated enthusiasm and a strong spirit of cooperation throughout the activity. The match further reinforced the importance of respecting fellow players and maintaining the true spirit of fair play. All three sporting matches were played in the memory of Major Dhyan Chand, reflecting his inspiring legacy and invaluable contribution to Indian sports. Student Participation and Engagement More Than 80 Students The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 80 students. The active involvement of students reflected their interest in sports and physical activities. Students participated actively in the sporting matches and demonstrated qualities such as teamwork, dedication, discipline and perseverance. The programme provided an opportunity for students to interact, cooperate and work together in a healthy and positive environment. The celebration transformed the message of National Sports Day into practical action by encouraging students to participate directly in physical activities rather than limiting the observance to speeches and discussions.
