Commencement Introduction Celebrating the Spirit of Sports The University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur, observed National Sports Day on 29 August 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students. The programme was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS), UEM Jaipur, to pay tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand and to promote the importance of physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, perseverance and sportsmanship among students. National Sports Day is an important occasion to recognise the role of sports and physical activity in the overall development of individuals and society. The celebration encouraged students to understand that sports not only contribute towards physical health but also help in developing important qualities such as discipline, leadership, teamwork, dedication and the spirit of fair play. The programme provided students with an opportunity to actively participate in different sporting activities while remembering and honouring the remarkable contribution of Major Dhyan Chand to Indian sports. 80+ Student Participants Objectives of the Programme Objectives of the Programme The National Sports Day programme was organized with the following objectives: 01 Tribute to Major Dhyan Chand To pay tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand and recognise his contribution to Indian sports. 02 Physical Fitness To promote physical fitness and encourage students to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle. 03 Discipline & Teamwork To develop the values of discipline, teamwork and perseverance among students. 04 Sportsmanship & Fair Play To promote the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play. 05 Active Participation To encourage students to participate actively in sports and physical activities. 06 Overall Development To highlight the importance of sports in the overall development of an individual. 07 Leadership & Cooperation To strengthen leadership, cooperation and team spirit among participating students. 08 Active Daily Life To encourage students to make physical activity an integral part of their daily lives. Commencement of the Programme Remembering a Sporting Legend The programme commenced at 4:30 P.M. at the Basketball Court of the University of Engineering & Management, Jaipur. Students gathered enthusiastically to participate in the celebration and pay tribute to Major Dhyan Chand. The programme began with a respectful remembrance of Major Dhyan Chand and his immense contribution to Indian hockey and the sporting history of the nation. Participants were reminded of his dedication, discipline and extraordinary achievements, which continue to inspire generations of young sportspersons. The gathering highlighted the importance of adopting the values represented by Major Dhyan Chand, including dedication, hard work, discipline and commitment towards excellence. The speech also emphasised the importance of sports and physical activity in the overall development of an individual. Students were encouraged to recognise that regular participation in sports contributes to physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline and the development of a positive attitude. Through the pledge, students reaffirmed their commitment towards maintaining physical fitness, adopting a healthy lifestyle and upholding the values of discipline and sportsmanship. The pledge also encouraged students to respect fellow players, follow the principles of fair play and contribute towards promoting a positive sporting culture. Sporting Activities Three Sporting Matches As a tribute to the immense legacy and contribution of Major Dhyan Chand, three sporting matches were organized in his memory. The activities provided students with an opportunity to participate actively in sports and demonstrate their physical abilities, teamwork and sporting spirit. 01 Basketball Match A basketball match was organized with the enthusiastic participation of students. The match encouraged participants to demonstrate teamwork, coordination, quick decision-making and discipline. The activity created an energetic and positive atmosphere and provided students with an opportunity to experience the importance of collective effort and cooperation in achieving common goals. 02 Badminton Match A badminton match was also organized as part of the National Sports Day celebration. Students participated enthusiastically and demonstrated concentration, physical endurance and sporting discipline. The activity encouraged students to recognise the importance of regular physical activity and helped promote a healthy and active lifestyle. 03 Football Match A football match was organized with active participation from students. The match highlighted the importance of teamwork, coordination, leadership, perseverance and strategic thinking. Students demonstrated enthusiasm and a strong spirit of cooperation throughout the activity. The match further reinforced the importance of respecting fellow players and maintaining the true spirit of fair play. All three sporting matches were played in the memory of Major Dhyan Chand, reflecting his inspiring legacy and invaluable contribution to Indian sports. Student Participation and Engagement More Than 80 Students The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 80 students. The active involvement of students reflected their interest in sports and physical activities. Students participated actively in the sporting matches and demonstrated qualities such as teamwork, dedication, discipline and perseverance. Rally Message “Har Ghar Tiranga, Ghar Ghar Tiranga – Rashtra Prem Ka Sankalp Hamaara.” 📅 Date 14 August 2026 👥 Participation 350 Students 🇮🇳 Flags Distributed 500+ About the Rally Taking Patriotism to the Community On 14 August 2026, the National Service Scheme (NSS), UEM Jaipur organized a vibrant Tiranga Rally at the university campus and Udaipuria Village, Block Chomu, Jaipur, as part of the nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative. The programme was organized with the objective of promoting patriotism, strengthening national consciousness, creating awareness about the dignity and significance of the Indian National Flag, and encouraging active participation in the Independence Day celebrations. The rally served as a meaningful platform for students to express their respect and pride towards the nation while extending the message of patriotism from the university campus to the rural community. By involving students from both UEM Jaipur and the Government School at Udaipuria, the programme promoted community participation and strengthened the connection between youth and the rural population. The rally connected patriotism, youth participation and grassroots community engagement, taking the message of “Har Ghar Tiranga” beyond the university campus. UEM Jaipur Campus The Rally Begins 🇮🇳 “Har Ghar Tiranga, Ghar Ghar Tiranga” Rashtra Prem Ka Sankalp Hamaara. The programme commenced at the UEM Jaipur campus, where the Tiranga Rally was formally inaugurated and flagged off by the Registrar, Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma. The inauguration created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and national pride among the participating students. Carrying the Tricolour with pride, students actively participated in the rally and raised patriotic slogans, including: “Har Ghar Tiranga, Ghar Ghar Tiranga – Rashtra Prem Ka Sankalp Hamaara.” The rally within the university campus reflected the spirit of patriotism and encouraged students to recognize their role as responsible citizens. The presence of the National Flag throughout the rally created a strong visual representation of unity and national pride. The activity also provided an opportunity for students to reflect upon the historical and constitutional significance of the Tricolour and the values of unity, sacrifice, dignity, and national responsibility associated with it. Community Outreach From Campus to Udaipuria Village 🏫 UEM Jaipur Rally inaugurated and flagged off from the university campus. → Community Outreach 🏘️ Udaipuria Village Block Chomu, Jaipur Following the inauguration at UEM Jaipur, the rally proceeded towards Udaipuria Village, Block Chomu, Jaipur, an adopted village associated with the university's community outreach activities. Udaipuria Village Patriotism at the Grassroots Approximately 350 students participated in the overall programme, including students from UEM Jaipur and students of the Government School, Udaipuria. The participation of students from both institutions created a vibrant atmosphere and demonstrated the power of youth participation in promoting national consciousness. The rally formally commenced from the Government School, where the Principal and teachers joined the programme and extended their support. Their participation further strengthened the connection between the university and the local educational community. The participating students marched through the major areas of the village, including the vicinity of the Panchayat House and residential areas. Throughout the rally, students carried the Tricolour and raised patriotic slogans, spreading the message of national pride and encouraging local residents to participate actively in the Independence Day celebrations. Har Ghar Tiranga 500+ Flags, One Message A significant component of the programme was the distribution of approximately 500 Indian National Flags among the local community. The flags were distributed among residents of Udaipuria Village and were also provided to local shops and establishments. NSS volunteers interacted with members of the community and encouraged them to proudly display the Tricolour at their homes and workplaces as part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative. The distribution activity was not limited merely to providing flags; it also served as an opportunity to communicate the importance of respecting and maintaining the dignity of the National Flag. Theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” 📅 Date 2 August 2026 👥 Participation 240 Students 🇮🇳 Initiative Government of India About the Initiative Empowering Youth for a Drug-Free India As part of the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of UEM Jaipur organized a special telecast programme on 2 August 2026 under the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat.” The programme was organized with the objective of sensitizing young students about the growing social and personal consequences of substance abuse and highlighting the significant role of youth in realizing the vision of a developed and progressive India. The programme provided students with an opportunity to participate collectively in a national-level awareness initiative and listen to the message delivered by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, through his “Mann Ki Baat” programme. The event emphasized responsible citizenship, healthy living, self-discipline, and active youth participation in addressing important social challenges. Programme Objectives Building Awareness & Responsibility 01 To create awareness among students regarding the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse. 02 To encourage young people to adopt a healthy, disciplined, and responsible lifestyle. 03 To promote the vision of a “Nasha Mukt Yuva.” or drug-free youth. 04 To sensitize students about the physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences associated with substance abuse. 05 To encourage students to act as responsible members of society and contribute towards spreading awareness about addiction. 06 To highlight the important contribution of youth in the development and progress of the nation. 07 To strengthen students’ sense of social responsibility and encourage them to participate in nation-building activities. 08 To connect students with national initiatives aimed at creating a healthier and more responsible younger generation. Programme Proceedings Listening, Reflecting & Acting 🇮🇳 “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” A national message encouraging young citizens to make responsible choices. The special telecast was organized at UEM Jaipur and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 240 students. Students assembled for the programme and participated collectively in the live telecast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat.” The programme provided a meaningful platform for students to listen to and reflect upon the national message concerning the importance of maintaining a drug-free society. The theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” placed particular emphasis on the role of young people in creating a healthier social environment and contributing positively to the development of the country. The programme therefore emphasized prevention, awareness, responsible decision-making, and collective social action. Participation & Student Engagement The participation of 240 students reflected the strong interest and enthusiasm of the student community towards social awareness and nation-building initiatives. Students listened attentively to the Prime Minister’s address and actively engaged with the central message of the programme. The collective participation created an environment of awareness and reflection among the students. It enabled them to understand the importance of individual responsibility in preventing substance abuse and encouraged them to recognize their potential role in spreading awareness among friends, peers, families, and the wider community. The programme also reinforced the idea that young people are not merely beneficiaries of social development programmes but can become active contributors and change-makers. Through their everyday choices, peer influence, and social participation, students can play an important role in promoting healthier communities. NSS & Yuva Bharat Unit Creating Responsible Change-Makers 🤝 The programme reflected the commitment of the NSS and Yuva Bharat Unit of UEM Jaipur towards promoting social awareness, responsible citizenship, and youth participation. NSS activities provide students with opportunities to engage with important social issues beyond the classroom and develop a sense of empathy, responsibility, discipline, and community service. Through this programme, the NSS and Yuva Bharat Unit contributed to the larger objective of creating awareness among young people regarding substance abuse and encouraging them to become active participants in the movement towards a healthier and drug-free society. The initiative also complemented the broader vision of Viksit Bharat by emphasizing that national development requires not only economic and technological progress but also a healthy, responsible, aware and socially conscious youth population. 🇮🇳 Viksit Bharat Healthy Youth, Strong Nation A developed nation requires a youth population that is healthy, responsible, disciplined, aware and socially conscious. The special telecast of “Mann Ki Baat” organized under the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” was successfully conducted on 2 August 2026 at UEM Jaipur. With the enthusiastic participation of 240 students, the programme served as an effective platform for creating awareness about substance abuse and highlighting the responsibilities of youth in building a healthier society.
