About the Initiative

Empowering Youth for a Drug-Free India

As part of the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of UEM Jaipur organized a special telecast programme on 2 August 2026 under the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat.”

The programme was organized with the objective of sensitizing young students about the growing social and personal consequences of substance abuse and highlighting the significant role of youth in realizing the vision of a developed and progressive India.

The programme provided students with an opportunity to participate collectively in a national-level awareness initiative and listen to the message delivered by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, through his “Mann Ki Baat” programme.

The event emphasized responsible citizenship, healthy living, self-discipline, and active youth participation in addressing important social challenges.

A national message encouraging young citizens to make responsible choices.

The special telecast was organized at UEM Jaipur and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 240 students. Students assembled for the programme and participated collectively in the live telecast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat.”

The programme provided a meaningful platform for students to listen to and reflect upon the national message concerning the importance of maintaining a drug-free society. The theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” placed particular emphasis on the role of young people in creating a healthier social environment and contributing positively to the development of the country.

The programme was conducted in synchronization with the nationwide observance under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, and its Yoga 365 initiative. The programme was organized with the objective of promoting the importance of yoga, physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline, and healthy living among the university community. The event provided an opportunity for students, faculty members, and staff to come together and participate in a common wellness activity, reinforcing the message that physical and mental well-being are essential components of holistic development. The successful conduct of the programme was formally acknowledged through a Yoga Sangam Patra, recognizing the participation of 102 individuals. Regular yoga practice can encourage physical flexibility, concentration, relaxation, self-discipline, and awareness of the body and mind. The programme was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS), UEM Jaipur. Programme Begins 10:15 A.M. A brief introductory address on the significance of World Environment Day and the growing need for environmental protection. From Awareness to Responsibility The address highlighted the importance of sustainable living, responsible use of natural resources, protection of biodiversity, and collective efforts to preserve the environment for present and future generations. Participants were encouraged to understand that environmental protection is not solely the responsibility of government institutions or environmental organizations, but is a shared responsibility of every individual. Students were particularly encouraged to make small but meaningful changes in their daily lives, such as avoiding unnecessary wastage, maintaining cleanliness, protecting plants and animals, reducing environmentally harmful materials, and promoting sustainable practices. Major Activities Turning Environmental Awareness into Action 100 Saplings Activity 01 Tree Plantation Drive One of the major activities organized as part of the World Environment Day celebration was a large-scale tree plantation drive across different locations of the university campus. Approximately 100 saplings were planted with the active involvement of students, faculty members, and staff. The plantation activity aimed at increasing the green cover of the campus and contributing towards the creation of a healthier and more sustainable environment. The activity also provided students with practical exposure to environmental conservation. Through their participation in the plantation drive, students were encouraged to understand the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, improving air quality, supporting biodiversity, reducing environmental degradation, and creating a healthier living environment. The tree plantation activity also reinforced the idea that environmental conservation requires continuous care and responsibility. Participants were encouraged not only to plant trees but also to develop a sense of responsibility towards their protection and maintenance. The activity aimed to increase green cover, support biodiversity, improve air quality and promote ecological balance. 50 Water Pots Activity 02 Installation of Bird Water Pots Considering the high temperatures during the summer season, the programme also included an initiative to support local bird populations. Approximately 50 bird water pots/water feeders were installed at suitable locations across the university campus. The initiative aimed to provide birds with easy access to drinking water during the hot summer months. It also sought to promote compassion and sensitivity towards urban wildlife among students and members of the university community. The activity served as a simple yet meaningful example of how individuals can contribute towards biodiversity conservation through small acts of care. Students were sensitized to the challenges faced by birds and other animals due to increasing temperatures, urbanization, and reduced availability of natural water sources. Campus Drive Activity 03 Cleanliness & Hygiene Drive A campus cleanliness and hygiene drive was also organized as an integral part of the World Environment Day celebration. Students, faculty members, and staff collectively participated in cleaning various areas of the university premises. The activity emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic environment and encouraged participants to take personal responsibility for the cleanliness of their surroundings. The cleanliness drive also highlighted the importance of proper waste disposal and responsible waste management. Through active participation, students were encouraged to understand that maintaining environmental cleanliness is a continuous process that requires responsible behaviour from every member of the community. The activity further strengthened the values of discipline, teamwork, civic responsibility, and community participation among the participants. Event Gallery Glimpses from the Celebration Student Participation More Than 100 Participants, One Shared Purpose The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 100 members of the university community, including students, faculty members, and staff. The active involvement of participants reflected the growing awareness and interest of the university community in environmental issues. Students participated actively in the various activities and demonstrated their commitment towards maintaining a clean and green campus. The programme also provided an opportunity for students to work collectively and develop a stronger understanding of the relationship between individual actions and larger environmental outcomes. The activities conducted during the programme transformed environmental awareness into practical action. Students were able to contribute directly towards increasing green cover, supporting local birds, and improving the cleanliness of their surroundings. NSS UEM Jaipur Inspiring Responsible Citizens 🌱 The programme reflected the commitment of the National Service Scheme (NSS), UEM Jaipur towards creating socially responsible and environmentally conscious citizens. Through practical activities such as tree plantation, bird water feeder installation, and cleanliness drives, NSS provided students with an opportunity to contribute directly towards the well-being of the environment and the wider community. The programme demonstrated the important role of NSS in connecting students with community-oriented activities and encouraging them to transform social awareness into meaningful action. Such initiatives help students develop values of responsibility, empathy, teamwork, discipline, and active citizenship. Conclusion A Collective Commitment Towards a Greener Future The World Environment Day 2026 celebration at UEM Jaipur was successfully conducted on 5 June 2026 with enthusiastic participation from more than 100 students, faculty members, and staff. The programme successfully combined environmental awareness with practical conservation activities, including the plantation of approximately 100 saplings, installation of around 50 bird water pots, and a comprehensive campus cleanliness and hygiene drive. The activities provided participants with an opportunity to contribute directly towards environmental conservation while developing a stronger sense of responsibility towards nature and the community. The programme reinforced the message that meaningful environmental change can be achieved through collective participation and consistent individual efforts.
