Prof. Indrani Bhattacharyya, Head, Research Council, University of Engineering & Management (UEM) was invited for the prestigious position as member of steering committee of International Symposium of Optomechatronic Technology (ISOT), a truly multidisciplinary Conference on Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Opto-electronics. Prof. Bhattacharyya of UEM Kolkata was the only professor of India to be present in the prestigious steering committee. She also gave her Invited Talk on 8-Nov-2016, Tuesday from 9:00-9:30 am, which created attention amongst the Scientific Community. It created a scope of immense collaboration of UEM Kolkata with prestigious Universities all over the world and also, our students to take part in ISOT in near future. Prof. Bhattacharyya proposed ISOT-2017 to be held in India, and UEM Kolkata & Jaipur to be the host. The steering committee of ISOM, International Society for Optomechatronic Technology has accepted the proposal. The speakers were:- 1) Prof. J. W. Kim from South Korean Institute of Technology 2) Prof. Toru Yashizawa from Tokyo University-Founder member of ISOM, Prof. Wong from Korean Institute of Technology 3) Prof. Rainer Tusch - President of ISOM from Germany 4) Prof. Muzutani from University of Osaka 5) Prof. Jonathan Koffman from Germany 6) Prof. Hidetoshi Katori, Department of Applied Physics, The University of Tokyo, Japan. It is a probability that Prof. Katori may be awarded Nobel in next year. 7) Prof. Y. Otani, General Chair, ISOT 2016 8) Mr. T. Sakamoto Mayor of Tokyo-Itabashi City 9) J. Tsujiuchi, Prof. Emeritus, Tokyo Institute of Technology. Prof. Bhattacharyya visited Riken Industry, Material Fabrication Lab, Topcon Corp. followed by Opto-electronic lab visit at Utsunomiya University, where there is huge scope of Indian students wiring under professors of USA, Canada etc.

UEM Kolkata students' performances in NPTEL examinations in September-October cycle have been ranked no. 1 in whole India. Around 4 lacs registrations were there in that cycle. IEM has ranked 4th in pan India. CONGRATULATIONS !!! to our students. NPTEL stands for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning which is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science. A proposal was jointly put forward by five IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Madras) and IISc for creating contents for 100 courses as web based supplements and 100 complete video courses, for forty hours of duration per course. Web supplements were expected to cover materials that could be delivered in approximately forty hours. Five engineering branches (Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics and Communication and Mechanical) and core science programmes that all engineering students are required to take in their undergraduate engineering programme in India were chosen initially. Contents for the above courses were based on the model curriculum suggested by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the syllabi of major affiliating Universities in India.

University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur has once again set a remarkable benchmark by becoming the first university in Rajasthan and among the first universities in India to commence academic classes for the 2026 admission batch at full strength. The new batch of students officially began their academic journey on 15th July 2026. The students received a warm welcome from UEM Jaipur's faculty members, distinguished government officials, and esteemed industry leaders, reflecting the university's strong commitment to academia-industry collaboration. Adding a unique technological touch to the induction, "Veda", the humanoid robot developed by UEM Jaipur students, along with other robots created at the university, greeted the freshers and assisted them in locating their classrooms and navigating the campus. University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur successfully conducted the Board of Studies (BoS) Meeting for the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering on 6th July 2026 at the UEM Jaipur campus, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and industry-aligned education. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Prashant Ranjan, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, who welcomed the distinguished Board members and faculty participants. The primary objective was to review and further strengthen the department's curriculum in line with emerging technologies, evolving industry requirements, and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles. The University was privileged to receive valuable insights from eminent external academic experts: Prof. (Dr.) Tarun Varma, MNIT Jaipur Prof. (Dr.) Amit Mahesh Joshi, MNIT Jaipur Following comprehensive deliberations, the Board approved the proposed curriculum and appreciated the Department's academic framework for its strong alignment with current industry expectations, technological advancements, and future-ready learning outcomes. The expert members acknowledged that the curriculum is well designed to equip students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to excel in the rapidly evolving field of Electronics & Communication Engineering. The meeting also witnessed the active participation of the departmental faculty members, including Dr. Angshuman Khan, Dr. Anjali Yadav, Dr. Uttam N.
