The Centre for Sustainable Innovations for Clean Future (SICF), University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur, welcomed a delegation of progressive farmers from Bhuttiwala, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab, the field site of our ongoing IPBCS (Project Nirmal) initiative.
The delegation included the host farmer supporting our active demonstration plots and the Head of the Organic Farming Association, Punjab, bringing together scientific research and hands-on farming experience in one room.
Led by Dr. Mandeep Singh (The AlgaeMan), our SICF student interns and volunteers took the visitors through our laboratory and the sustainable agri-technologies we are developing:
🔹 Closed-loop microalgae cultivation
🔹 Engineered torrefied biochar
🔹 Responsible nutrient management
Together, these solutions aim to cut groundwater nitrate contamination, improve soil health and support eco-friendly farming.
The learning went both ways. The farmers shared their experience in organic farming, regenerative indigo cultivation and chemical-free food production, giving our students a first-hand look at the real challenges farmers face in the field.
For our young researchers, it was a valuable chance to connect what they study in the classroom and build in the lab with grassroots agricultural wisdom.
