Civil Engineering Department, University of Engineering and Management, Jaipur participated in a Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Student Chapters Meet "Manthan- A Green Talk" at SKIT as a part of IIC activities on 01.11.2023. Registrar of University Of Engineering and Management, Jaipur, Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma was invited as one of the panel members of this speaker programme. Prof. Subhro Chakraborty, HOD, Civil Engineering Department and SPOC (IGBC) attended this programme along with CE 3rd year students, Mr. Subham Jain, Mr. Ravindra Dhabai. Its a matter of pride that in his keynote address, Dr. Shivraj Dhaka, Sr. Counsellor, IGBC mentioned that UEM is one of the most vibrant IGBC student chapters in Rajasthan. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Registrar, UEM mentioned in the Panel Discussion, the Green Initiatives UEM is taking including Solar Water Heaters, Plantation activities etc and was well appreciated. On 13.10.2023 Civil Engineering Department had conducted an Industrial Visit to Bisalpur Dam, Water Resource Department (WRD) Project, Govt. Of Rajasthan. The students had an idea of the Working Principles of a Gravity Dam. Bisalpur Dam is a Gravity Dam on the Banas River near Bisalpur in Tonk district, Rajasthan, India. The dam was completed in 1999 for the purpose of irrigation and water supply. Specifications: Height: 130 Feet Length: 1884 Feet Total Reservoir Capacity: 1,100,000,000 cubic metres. The students were shown the various components of a Gravity Dam like Diversion Tunnel, Spillways, Sluiceway etc. It was an excellent exposure for the students of Core Departments. Also it can be considered as an IIC Activity for the University under Innovations in Technology. The leading Natlonal level Technical Bonanza of the country - Connectech - which sees the highest number of participations in technical contests all across India came back to Jaipur. It was organized by the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur in the University campus, and challenged all the schools and its students to participate for winning the Champions' School Trophy on 23rd September, 2023.
