The students of the Electrical Engineering Laboratory of the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur designed a star delta starter for a three phase induction motor. Induction motors are inherently self starting and hence are prone to draw excessive current by the time it reaches the rated speed. Hence it is important to control current during starting.
The design and engineering done in EE laboratory of UEM Jaipur is the same as used in industry consisting of contactors, timers, interlock switches and thermal overload relay meant to control the starting current.
