In continuation of series of events to celebrate the International Women’s Day, Department of English, UEM Jaipur today organised Jingle Convention, a poetry recitation event by eminent poets and authors on the theme ‘ Women as Foundation of Value Based Society’. Many Award winning poets and authors namely Ms Pankhuri Sinha (Bihar), Ms Mili Das (West Bengal), Dr Shalini Yadav (Rajasthan), and Dr Firoz Khan (Rajasthan) were present to mark the event. The event was chaired by Prof. (Dr) Rajul Bhargava, Former Professor, University of Rajasthan. The poets and educationists hailing from different parts of India made a scathing attack on the society for its falling ethical benchmarks, venting their ire over rising crime against women, her status in society, the rising threat of AI [artificial intelligence] and war etc. The emphasis was on creating positive literature.
Throughout the session, students, participants and listeners together enjoyed powerful, inspirational, and passionate poems on the themes of Women, love, life, death and migration. Many poems reflected the role of women in building the strong foundation of value based society and women related issues. It was clear from the session that poetry touches the hearts of everyone, transcending language barriers and bringing us together. The whole event was full of sensibility and sensitivity towards humanity and Poetry, making the event a gala success.
The master of ceremonies, Ms Shreya Pareek (BBA II Year) and Ms Vandana Sharma (BCA I Year) were appreciated for being wonderful anchors. The entire event was together coordinated by the members of Department of English, Dhanika (Women Cell) and The Speech Society.

The festival commenced with a warm Welcome Tea, followed by the ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp, marking an auspicious beginning. Our esteemed Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Biswajoy Chatterjee, set the stage with his Welcome Address, emphasizing UEM Jaipur’s commitment to literature and academia. Prof. Rajul Bhargava, Founder and Editor of Voices, highlighted the evolving literary landscape in her Opening Remarks. The Chief Guest, Prof. Sudhi Rajiv, Vice Chancellor of Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication, delivered an insightful address on "Making the World Women Fit," shedding light on gender narratives and empowerment in literature. The LitFest featured a series of thought-provoking discussions: •Troubled Testimonies & Nostalgic Reminiscences – A deep dive into memory, trauma, and literature with Meenakshi Bharat & Neha Bansal in conversation with Sudha Rai. •Myriad Musings & Pictorial Storytelling – Exploring visual and textual storytelling with Rachna Singh & Tabeenah Anjum, moderated by Mini Nanda. •Mythopoesis & Mythology Revisited – A modern reinterpretation of ancient myths with Ashutosh Singh & Jaishree Bhargava. •Flames of Distant Mountains – A heartfelt exploration of displacement, identity, and belonging with Misna Chanu & Urmil Talwar. •Ways of Seeing—Reseeing – A fresh perspective on literature and art with Ronojoy Sircar & Maheeka Nanda. The festival concluded with the prestigious Literary Excellence Icon Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to literature. Dr. Mukesh Yadav delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all the speakers, organizers, and participants. The UEM LitFest 2025 stood as a testament to the transformative power of storytelling, bridging the past with the present and inspiring the future.
