UEM Kolkata students' performances in #NPTEL #examinations in September-October cycle have been #ranked no. 1 in whole India. Around 4 lacs registrations were there in that cycle. IEM has ranked 4th in pan India. CONGRATULATIONS !!! to our students. NPTEL stands for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning which is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science. A proposal was jointly put forward by five IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Madras) and IISc for creating contents for 100 courses as web based supplements and 100 complete video courses, for forty hours of duration per course. Web supplements were expected to cover materials that could be delivered in approximately forty hours. Five engineering branches (Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics and Communication and Mechanical) and core science programmes that all engineering students are required to take in their undergraduate engineering programme in India were chosen initially. Contents for the above courses were based on the model curriculum suggested by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the syllabi of major affiliating Universities in India. www.uem.edu.in Students of University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata won the 1st prize in #NPTEL, IIT Kharagpur nationally amongst all colleges of the country where various IITs also participated. University as a whole won the AAA #rating which is the best amongst all. Even the 4th prize was won by IEM students followed by several IITs. Prof. Indrani Bhattacharyya, Head, Research Council, University of Engineering & Management (UEM) was invited for the prestigious position as member of steering committee of International Symposium of Optomechatronic Technology (ISOT), a truly multidisciplinary #Conference on Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Opto-electronics. Prof. Bhattacharyya of UEM Kolkata was the only professor of India to be present in the prestigious steering committee. She also gave her Invited Talk on 8-Nov-2016, Tuesday from 9:00-9:30 am, which created attention amongst the #Scientific_Community. It created a scope of immense #collaboration of UEM Kolkata with prestigious Universities all over the world and also, our students to take part in ISOT in near future. Prof. Bhattacharyya proposed ISOT-2017 to be held in India, and UEM Kolkata & Jaipur to be the host. The steering committee of ISOM, International Society for Optomechatronic Technology has accepted the proposal. The speakers were:- 1) Prof. J. W. Kim from South Korean Institute of Technology 2) Prof. Toru Yashizawa from Tokyo University-Founder member of ISOM, Prof. Wong from Korean Institute of Technology 3) Prof. Rainer Tusch - President of ISOM from Germany 4) Prof. Muzutani from University of Osaka 5) Prof. Jonathan Koffman from Germany 6) Prof. Hidetoshi Katori, Department of Applied Physics, The University of Tokyo, Japan. It is a probability that Prof. Katori may be awarded Nobel in next year. 7) Prof. Y. Otani, General Chair, ISOT 2016 8) Mr. T. Sakamoto Mayor of Tokyo-Itabashi City 9) J. Tsujiuchi, Prof. Emeritus, Tokyo Institute of Technology. Prof. Bhattacharyya visited Riken Industry, Material Fabrication Lab, Topcon Corp. followed by Opto-electronic lab visit at Utsunomiya University, where there is a huge scope of Indian students wiring under professors of USA, Canada etc. www.uem.edu.in

On 7th September 2025, the students of Atrang: The Cultural Club of the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur, had the remarkable opportunity to participate in the Jaipur chapter of Mood Indigo Multicity, hosted at the vibrant VGU campus.
On 7th September 2025, the students of Atrang: The Cultural Club of the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur, had the remarkable opportunity to participate in the Jaipur chapter of Mood Indigo Multicity, hosted at the vibrant VGU campus. Mood Indigo, IIT Bombay’s annual cultural extravaganza, stands as Asia’s largest celebration of art, music, theatre, and dance, and the Jaipur edition gave our students the platform to showcase their creativity and competitive spirit. Our students participated across a wide spectrum of events—Mantra (group singing), MI Idol (solo singing), Aagaaz (street play), Desi Beats (dance), and MI: The Best (multi-skill showcase). Each performance reflected their talent, passion, and determination. Among these, a moment of immense pride came when UEM Jaipur secured third place in Mantra, earning a ticket to perform on the grand final stage at IIT Bombay. This achievement is not only a milestone but also an inspiration, as our students prepare to represent UEM Jaipur on one of the country’s most prestigious cultural platforms.
