On 24th October, 2016, 24 B.Tech. students of University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata visited CSIR-CGCRI Optical Fibre Fabrication & Testing Lab to mark "World Day of Photonics" as suggested by European Commission of Industries followed by SPIE, OSA, DST & CSIR. The Mechanical Engineering students of IEM-UEM group went for a one day industrial visit to Central Tool Room & Training Centre (MSME,Kolkata). With an aim to go beyond academics, #industrial_visit provides student a practical perspective on the world of work. It provides students with an opportunity to learn practically through interaction, working methods and employment practices. IEM and UEM Group are proud to present the Kolkata Marathon 2017: Run for Charity. There will be a 5 km and a 10 km course starting from City Centre 1 at Salt Lake, Kolkata. All profits from the event will be donated to CRY to fund education for unprivileged children.

Prof. Barry Sanders, OSA fellow from University of Calgary, Faculty of #Science, Institute for Quantum Science & Technology, CA will visit UEM Kolkata on January, 2017 and will motivate the students and teachers. Prof. Ghatak is currently the #Research_Director of IEM and the Dean of University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata. He is the author of 10 Springer monograms, the most reputed international monogram of the world.
