University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata had organized a Mega Job Mela on 25th January, 2017 at UEM Campus, New Town, Kolkata. Plethora of companies visited this Job Mela and offered jobs to the freshers, of all types starting from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, IT, Java developers to content writers, front-desk executives. It was a lifetime opportunity for freshers for headstarting their career. There was a footfall of 5000 in the job fair and 161 Job offers were given on-spot with several more shortlistings. An award giving function is being organized at IISc Bangalore, Satish Dhawan Auditorium on 25th February, 2017, where top corporates of the country will be given award from the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur | Kolkata. Campus Placement Drive of Sunbeam Auto Pvt Ltd, an ancillary company of Hero Motor Corp has been done at UEM Kolkata Campus for the mechanical engineering students of UEM Jaipur. 21 students have got placement offer in the company. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE STUDENTS!!!!! In 2016, all students of UEM got 1 to 2 job offers on average. We are on the verge of repeating the same record even in 2017.

Four students from the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata - Sayak Dhar, Sayan Sapui, Mounadeep Poddar, Shankhadeep Kundu have got selected for the quarter final round of India Innovation challenge by Texas instruments and Department of science& Technology, Govt of India. Texas Instruments Inc. in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology(DST) anchored by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore and supported by MyGov. This contest is for students from Indian engineering colleges who have a dream to create something new, aspire to make a difference and contribute to India’s success towards becoming an innovation hub.

Prof. Susmita Sur Koley from ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) came to the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata and addresed the students and teachers of the University. Prof Koley Susmita Sur-Kolay received the B.Tech.(Hons.) degree in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University India. She has been a faculty member in the Advanced Computing and Microelectronics Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India since 1999 and is presently a Professor. During the period 1993-99, she was a Reader in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Jadavpur University. Prior to that, she was a post-doctoral fellow at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Research Assistant at the Laboratory for Computer Science in Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She was also on sabbatical at Princeton University and Intel Corp., USA. Her research contributions are in the areas of electronic design automation for VLSI physical design, fault modeling and testing, synthesis of quantum computers, and graph algorithms. She has co-authored several technical papers in leading international journals and refereed conference proceedings, and a chapter in the Handbook on Algorithms for VLSI Physical Design Automation. She was the Technical Program Co-Chair of the 18th International Conference on VLSI Design (2005),the 11th Symposium on VLSI Design and Test (2007), ISVLSI 2011 and has served on the program committees of several international conferences. She has served on the editorial board of the IET Computers and Digital Techniques, and IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems. She is a Distinguished Visitor of IEEE Computer Society (India), Senior Member of IEEE, Member of ACM, IET and VLSI Society of India. Among other awards, she was the recipient of the President of India Gold Medal (summa cum laude) at IIT Kharagpur (1980), IBM Faculty Award (2009).

Date of the event : 17th January 2017 The program is being organized in association with Bihar Council on Science & Technology (BCST, DST), Govt of Bihar. More than 1000 school students are coming to the event participating in Quiz, Debate, Mathematics Olympiad, Robotics Exhibition, Science Model competitions. Two IAS officers are coming to the event. The Director of Department of Science & Technology, Govt of Bihar is also a Chief Guest of the event. A team of 17 teachers and students have gone to the event from UEM to organize it successfully.
