News releases in Rajasthan regarding the industrial visit of the students of the School of Management, University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Jaipur to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
With the objective of enriching the knowledge and exposure of the students to the Capital market and the role of Securities and Exchange Board of India in regulating the market, this study visit was organised for the students. Taking advantage of this golden opportunity, all the students of UG and PG program became a part of this exciting visit. The main reason for organizing the visit was to propel experiential education to which the University is fully committed.
The session started with the students learning about the history of SEBI; it’s working and standing in the current operating exchanges in India.
In the session, Mr Sanjay Singh Bhati, DGM at SEBI Jaipur office explained the role and relevance of SEBI to the students. He said that SEBI acts as a regulator, and hence, it cannot enforce anything on anybody in the case of even frauds. However, he also cleared that their motto is investor safety and investor awareness. They always guide investors to avoid fraud. Giving an example, they said that they often tell the investors to never sign columns in a form without reading and knowing about them clearly.
Under SEBI preview, Mr Gaurav Khinvsara said that all transactions made in the securities market are subject to the guidelines of SEBI. All the primary and secondary market transactions done in stocks are under the preview of SEBI.
SEBI visit was very beneficial for the students. Students learned various important aspects of SEBI. The learning session was followed by interactive Questions & Answers round wherein the students got to speak their minds and share their queries. SEBI officials listened to every query of the students patiently and answered all the questions well.
Such visits are regular features at UEM and form part of the curriculum of UEM. It is designed to combine practical exposure with academic inputs. These visits prepare the students for facing the challenges in the career. Prof Manisha, Prof Rahul and Prof Sweta from UEM Jaipur accompanied the students and coordinated with the Industry Resource persons.
