On 13.10.2023 Civil Engineering Department had conducted an Industrial Visit to Bisalpur Dam, Water Resource Department (WRD)
Project, Govt. Of Rajasthan.
The students had an idea of the Working Principles of a Gravity
Dam.
Bisalpur Dam is a Gravity Dam on the Banas River near Bisalpur in Tonk district, Rajasthan, India. The dam was completed in 1999 for the purpose of irrigation and water supply.
Specifications:
Height: 130 Feet
Length: 1884 Feet
Total Reservoir Capacity: 1,100,000,000 cubic metres.
The students were shown the various components of a Gravity Dam like Diversion Tunnel, Spillways, Sluiceway etc.
It was an excellent exposure for the students of Core
Departments. Also it can be considered as an IIC Activity for the University under Innovations in Technology.
