INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADVANCEMENTS IN PHYSIOTHERAPY-2023 (ICAP-2023)
Department of Physiotherapy, University of Engineering & Management (UEM), JAIPUR organized 2 days “International Conference on Advancements in Physiotherapy (ICAP2023)” on 26th and 27th August 2023 at the University campus.
The theme of the conference was “Enlightening the advancements and exploring the new scope in Physiotherapy.” ICAP 2023 provided an opportunity for researchers, academicians and students to discuss and exchange ideas on issues, trends and developments in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. The conference aimed to bring together intellects from different regions of India to emphasize dissemination of ongoing trends in the fields of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Research papers were invited describing original work in the above mentioned fields. All accepted papers was presented in person during the parallel sessions of the conference and the accepted presented papers was submitted for publication in Scopus and UGC Care listed journals.
The inaugural session began with lamp lightning ceremony by the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof.(Dr.) Biswajoy Chatterjee and Registrar Prof.(Dr.) Pradeep Kumar Sharma followed by the felicitation of the guests.

Chatterjee have emphasized on the importance of physiotherapy and motivated participants through his inspirational talk. He also emphasized on the need of such Conferences for updating knowledge of Physiotherapists in emerging fields. Then Honourable Prof.(Dr.) Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Registrar delivered his valuable thoughts about the Profession of physiotherapy and also Cheered the entire organizing committee.
There were two Pre-conference Hands-on workshops organized on 26th August 2023.
The first workshop was taken by Dr. Harpreet Singh Sachdeva on
“Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation”. He is an Academician and a Clinical Neuro-Physiotherapist with an experience of more than 10 years at AlIMS New Delhi. In this workshop, 40 Participants from different colleges and universities of Jaipur learned about the PNF technique and its application in various diseases.
The second workshop had been taken by Dr. Suryamani on “JUST THRUST: Spinal articulation and Manipulation techniques”. He is a Founder and Director of Prokinesia Healthcare, Instructor in Prokinesia Academy and Co-founder, Director of Medrise International Education Pvt. Ltd. He is former Clinical Director in Goodhab, Health and Wellness Clinic. In this workshop, also 40 Participants from different colleges and universities of Jaipur learned about the Spinal articulation and Manipulation Techniques and their implication in various diseases.

Both the workshops proved to be very beneficial for all the participants as these both are recent techniques and all the participants learned the techniques hands-on.
In the conference, many renowned Physiotherapists from all across the globe participated.
The Guest of Honor of the conference was Dr Ali Irani, HOD of Physiotherapy and Sports in Nanavati Super Specialty Hospital, Mumbai. He is also former physiotherapist of Indian world cup winning cricket team from 1987-1997. He also has extensive experience of working with professional athletes at national and international level. He was also one of the Keynote Speakers in the conference.
There were three other Keynote speakers.-
1. Dr. Seema Grover, HOD, Department of Physiotherapy, Apollo Hospital, New Delhi and Certified Lymphedema Therapist.
2. Dr. R. Harihara Prakash, a renowned physiotherapist, working as Professor and Principal in KM Patel institute of Physiotherapy, Anand, Gujarat.
3. Dr. AGK Sinha, a senior Professor at Punjabi University, Patiala and member in NAAC and UGC.

There were seven Eminent Speakers:-
1. Dr. R. Arunmozhi, Senior Professor at SBS University, Dehradun,
2. Dr. Harpreet Sachdeva, Senior Physiotherapist at AlIMS, New Delhi, Certified NDT and PNF therapist,
3. Dr. Harsh M Rajdeep, HOD, Department of Physiotherapy, MBS Hospital, Government Medical College, Kota
4. Dr. Anchit Gugnani, Director, Amity Institute of Physiotherapy, Amity University, Jaipur
5. Dr. Mohammad Sidiq, Associate Professor in Galgotia University, Greater Noida
6. Dr. Vardhman Jain, Founder of FNMT, Synergy Healthpoint, Mumbai.
7. Dr. Pushpendra Yadhuvanshi, HOD, Career Point University Kota.
The 1st day session was concluded by Dr Shantanu Sharma, Prof. and HOD of Department of Physiotherapy, who had expressed his Wholehearted gratitude towards both the Resource Persons who had shared their valuable time and experience for this conference. He also thanked all the delegates, management and faculty members and students who participated in both the workshops.
