The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Unit, UEM Jaipur, celebrated National Sports Day on 29th August 2026, paying a heartfelt tribute to the legendary hockey wizard, Major Dhyan Chand.
More than 80 students enthusiastically participated in the celebration, which promoted the values of physical fitness, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
The programme commenced with students gathering at the Basketball Court, where a respectful tribute was paid to Major Dhyan Chand. This was followed by an inspiring speech by a student named Anshul Pathak highlighting his remarkable contribution to Indian sports and the importance of sports in the overall development of an individual.
On this occasion, students also took a National Sports Day Pledge, reaffirming their commitment towards physical fitness, a healthy lifestyle, discipline and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
As a tribute to the immense legacy and contribution of Major Dhyan Chand, three sporting matches were organised in his memory:
